Team Dominican Republic Update

What a joy it is to share with you what God is doing in the Dominican Republic through the DR Vision and Team Dominican Republic. Please take a moment and read to get caught up on the major happenings.

A River Runs Through It

pic1Nestled in the mountains of the Dominican Republic is a rustic hotel that sits beside a rushing river with small cascades. This picturesque scene was the backdrop for Iglesia Bautista Evangélica de Macorís' (IBEM) first couples retreat in September. Fourteen couples enjoyed the Friday through Sunday retreat. Four sessions brought by special guest Rick Johnson stirred the hearts of the couples, while plenty of time for relaxation, reflection, and fellowship encouraged the spirits of each couple. Since the retreat, the couples have continued to grow closer and have shared in their small groups how they have personally applied the lessons learned.

Let There Be Light

pic2With caretaker homes nearly completed on Visionland (the ministry's 46-acre property) the ministry recently had the electricity hooked up. This marks an important step in the vision, as caretakers have moved in and now having electricity and water on the property; the property is finally secured and ready for future construction phases. In order to pay for the caretakers and to continue the forward momentum on property development, the ministry is looking for monthly financial partners. Would you consider becoming a Visionland partner? Your faithful monthly support will bring the dream one step closer!

Run Jonathan Run

pic4Jonathan came. He saw. Then, he decided to run - a half-marathon that is, as part of his desire to help the Lifehouse girls home operated by Felix and Mari Mota. Jonathan Watson, a pastor from Virginia, recently returned from a church missions trip with the DR Vision with a burden to help support the home, which is in a critical need of more support. The Lord placed on his heart the idea of running his first half-marathon, the High-Bridge Half Marathon in Farmville, VA, and giving people an opportunity to sponsor his run. Not only did Jonathan beat his time goal, finishing at 1:52, God burdened supporters to invest in Jonathan's run - to date, more than $3,500 has been given by more than 40 supporters from four different states!

Jonathan's run has stirred interest in a possible coordinated effort next year to have sponsored runners running in different marathons on the same weekend for the Lifehouse ministry. If you would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you! If you would like to begin supporting the Lifehouse ministry or to receive their updates, please contact us right away!

A Celebration 10 Years in the Making

pic3Just in case you missed the news, IBEM celebrated its 10th anniversary in grand fashion. A week of activities, fellowship with invited guests, and a special conference culminated in a three hour celebration service on Sunday, August 4, followed by a church baptism and picnic. What a tremendous joy it was to reflect upon what all God has done, is doing, and will do with IBEM. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support over the years, we still believe the best is yet to come!

Once again, we want to express our sincere thanks for your prayers and support of the DR Vision. Your investment is making an eternal impact.
