SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Daystar’s largest team of missionaries serve in San Pedro, Dominican Republic. The Daystar team in San Pedro serves in conjunction with missionaries from a few other organizations. The combined team is referred to as “DR Vision”
The DR Vision team is involved in several type of ministries, such as:
- A Significant Church, a Church Plant from it and a Chapel ministry throughout the city.
- Las Palmas Christian School- a school of 480+ students from preK-12th grade
- Lifehouse Girls Home- a home for girls under 18
- MERCY Workshop- a rescue ministry to prostituted women offering work, counseling and discipleship.
- Paloma House- a safe house for vulnerable or abused women
- Sports Ministry-baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball- games and clinics
- Medical Missions- including two physical therapists who are on the team
Ministry Opportunities include:
- VBS programs and children’s ministry
- Evangelism- prayer walking and sharing the gospel
- Light construction projects- painting, building projects, etc.
- Las Palmas Christian School- special events, teaching classes, ministering to the staff, bible studies, games.
- Sports Ministry- assist in ministry’s practice/games, playing games, area teams and or clinics
- Local church ministry- special events or programs
- MERCY Workshop- Work alongside survivors making jewelry and interact in a personal way
- Orphanage visits- playing games, Bible studies etc.
Free Time opportunities include:
- Snorkeling trip to Catalina Island- full day adventure with snorkeling & beach time
- Tour of Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo – half day trip to Columbus’ fort & souvenir shopping
Travel: Groups can fly into Santo Domingo (SDQ) airport or Punta Cana (PUJ). *There is an additional fee for pick-up and drop-off into PUJ when the group size is less than 8 people
