RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA
Rapid City is a town of about 75,000 people. It is commonly known as the home of the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore. The homeless population in Rapid City has increased over 50% in the past 5 years. Many of these homeless people are Native Americans. Just an hour and a half south of Rapid city is the Pine Ridge Reservation, which is home to more than 20,000 Lakota people. There are many needs there on the reservation, including a need for outreach and evangelism. Groups that come and serve in South Dakota will be able to participate in ministry in an urban setting in Rapid City as well as a rural setting on Pine Ridge Reservation.
